project summary
Working on Planet of Lana 2 as a Level Artist during its final production phase gave me valuable insight into polish, iteration and what it takes to deliver a high-quality shipped product that I’m very proud to have contributed to.
As the project approached key deadlines, I was trusted with taking ownership of set dressing across multiple areas of the game inside the Unity editor. Using assorted asset packs for each biome, I even hand-tinted many assets individually to better fit the lighting and overall art direction. It was detailed work that I genuinely loved being part of.
I also helped populate the world with butterflies, birds and other environmental creatures in purposeful ways to support visual storytelling and player guidance. This included using flying birds to subtly direct the player’s attention (both towards a point of interest and away from one to signal danger), or foreshadowing larger creatures by placing smaller variations in the foreground/background. Each asset placement was a meaningful choice I made.
Alongside this, I optimized levels for performance across target platforms and conducted around 200 hours of playtesting, identifying and reporting bugs of all severities to help ensure a polished and release-ready game.
Jumping into a project this late in production was challenging, especially since I was not originally expected to work on the game. With deadlines approaching, I often had to take initiative and work independently with minimal guidance to meet the team’s expectations. Despite the fast pace I found the experience to be incredibly rewarding and it taught me alot about responsibility and working collaboratively in a professional production environment.
I’m very grateful to have been part of both the game and the talented and kind team at Wishfully Studios!
